M. AR Index


The Merval Argentina (M.AR) index is based on the methodology applied to the Merval index, however, M.AR aims to be an indicator of the performance and evolution of local companies.

Merval Argentina was created on 1 January 2000, based on Merval index close price on 30 December 1999: ARS 550.47.

Methodology

The Merval Argentina index calculates the value of a Theoretical Stocks Portfolio in ARS on the basis of stocks selected by their liquidity aspects, and considering only locally owned Companies.

The criteria applied for selecting the companies is the same criteria applied for the Merval index: the stocks portfolio included in the Merval Argentina index are changed every three (3) months, when the theoretical portfolio performance is reassessed based on the traded volume and the number of trades observed over the last six (6) months.

On a weekly basis, Instituto Argentino de Mercado de Capitales (Argentine Institute of Capital Markets – IAMC for its Spanish acronym ) drafts a Portfolio Projection on the composition of Merval index in the following term, which is available in BYMA website, in IAMC website and in IAMC page in Reuters (IAMC01).
