Ernesto Allaria, President of BYMA, Bolsas y Mercados Argentinos S.A., attended the event ‘The Future of markets in Latin America’ which was held within the framework of the Latin America Investment Summit organized by Thomson Reuters in New York.

The Latin America Investment Summit consists of a series of exclusive interviews to Latin American leaders. In this opportunity, more than 20 interviews were carried out among which the interview made to the Argentinean President Mauricio Macri is worth mentioning.

Ernesto Allaria, together with his colleagues Roberto Belchior, B3 Markets Development Manager (BOVESPA) and Alfredo Guillen Lara, Operations Manager of the Mexican Stock Exchange (Bolsa Mexicana de Valores) shared their vision on the general regional scenario with more than 100 financial world leaders.

During his presentation, Ernesto Allaria stressed that “It is really encouraging to know that Argentina is being included in global markets agendas.” “BYMA is an ally for local economic development because we understand that there is no national economic growth without solid capital market.”

Ernesto Allaria also explained that, for the purpose of providing further guarantees to investors, “We are working to develop the best international practices of Corporate Governance so that the companies listed in BYMA become more attractive, transparent and reach an enhanced market development.” He also made a strong emphasis on the need of integration of Latin American markets, and proper Corporate Governance practices are the cornerstone of such process: “This is the path to integration, working hard together with Markets which are close to us, and which are experienced markets, such as the Brazilian market with the Novo Mercado.”

He also mentioned the incorporation of new projects such as: Securities Lending, Short Selling and Market Makers.

At the end of his presentation, Enesto Allaria mentioned the evolution and growth of the Stock Market in Argentina: ‘BYMA increased international investors’ expectation. Market integration unifies transactions and multiplies the volumes of transactions. BYMA was able to have an impact in New York due to its asset soundness, the technology acquired and the new supporting standards, which are credentials of international validity.’
