BYMA and S&P Dow Jones Indices expand S&P/BYMA index family with two new CEDEAR indices
With this innovation, the S&P/BYMA family of indexes has been expanded.

BYMA and S&P Dow Jones Indices ("S&P DJI"), the leading global index provider, today announced the launch of the S&P/BYMA Ingenius Index and the S&P/BYMA CEDEAR Index. Both equity indices are comprised of Argentine Certificates of Deposit (CEDEAR) listed on BYMA and join the S&P/BYMA family of indices.
These are the first indices of their kind in Argentina and will serve as crucial reference tools for both retail and institutional market participants.
- The S&P/BYMA CEDEAR Index is comprised of all CEDEARs listed on BYMA that meet minimum liquidity requirements. The S&P/BYMA CEDEAR Index seeks to measure the performance of liquid CEDEARs in order to represent 90% of local market liquidity. The index constituents are weighted by their six-month median daily traded value (MDVT), being subject to a 15% weighting limit per constituent.
- The S&P/BYMA Ingenius Index is comprised of some of the world's best-known technology companies listed on BYMA as CEDEARs. The index seeks to measure the performance of foreign companies listed as CEDEAR as well as on the New York Stock Exchange or NASDAQ. These companies focus on technology and innovation, according to their classification within the subindustries of the Global Industry Classification Standard International (GICS). As growth companies they must submit a S&P DJI growth score equal to or greater than 0.6 to be eligible. Components are weighted by their S&P DJI momentum score, subject to a 20% weighting limit per component. This index joins the Ingenius family of indices launched in other Latin American markets.
These indices can be monitored through the BYMADATA.
Ernesto Allaria, President of BYMA, said: "We are proud of this new step that consolidates the partnership we have had with S&P DJI since 2018. We work to accompany and respond to the interest of Argentine investors, for the first time we built two indexes that their portfolios are exclusively integrated by stocks listed abroad have local trading in BYMA. This will increase transparency and open new possibilities for all participants". And he concluded: "Our purpose is to promote the development of the Argentine capital market, offering new relevant and useful products."
Silvia Kitchener, Director of Equity Product Management for Latin America at S&P Dow Jones Indices, said:"We are particularly pleased to offer CEDEAR indices, as CEDEARs are a segment of the Argentine equity market that has experienced strong growth and acceptance in the country in recent years.
This growing interest, together with our long-standing collaboration with BYMA, opened an opportunity to leverage further growth in this segment by providing market indices and bringing new solutions to market participants."
These new indexes will join S&P DJI's existing family of indexes in Argentina, which includes the S&P/BYMA Índice General, the S&P Merval and eleven sector indexes representing key segments of the local market.
