BYMA incorporates 6 new CEDEARs for trading

BYMA, introduces 6 new CEDEARs in the Argentine Capital Market, providing investors with more alternatives to invest in foreign companies from Argentina and in pesos. These are CEDEARs of large Brazilian companies whose shares are among the most traded in that country. They will be available for trading according to the following schedule: Banco do Brasil (BBAS3), available as of today; Localiza Rent A Car (RENT3), as of 05/22; Petro Rio (PRIO3), as of 05/23; Hapvida Participaçoes e Investimentos (HAPV3), as of 05/24; Lojas Renner (LREN3), as of 05/27; Magazine Luiza (MGLU3), as of 05/28. These are the first CEDEARs available in the Argentine market with underlying in Brazil. Thus, investors have more possibilities to transform their savings into investments. At the same time, the new CEDEARs introduce new features: currency diversification; companies regularly distribute dividends to their shareholders. These dividends carry tax benefits, as they are subject to lower withholding tax than other CEDEARs.With these additions, the CEDEARs available for trading on BYMA bring the total to 324.In addition, investors can invest in ETF CEDEARs on BYMA.

  • New CEDEARs and their ratios:
  • Banco do Brasil (BBAS3). Ratio 2:1Bank active in Brazil and Latin America. Starts trading today.
  • Localiza Rent A Car (RENT3). Ratio 2:1It is engaged in car rentals. Begins trading on 05/22
  • Petro Rio (PRIO3). Ratio 2:1 It is engaged in oil and gas production.  Began trading on 05/23
  • Hapvida Participaçoes e Investimentos (HAPV3). Ratio 1:1 It is a health services company.  Begins trading on 05/24
  • Lojas Renner (LREN3). Ratio 1:1  It is an apparel company. Begins trading on 05/27
  • Magazine Luiza (MGLU3). Ratio 1:1It is a retail company.  Begins trading on 05/28

About CEDEARs

  • CEDEARs are Argentine Certificates of Deposit.  
  • Advantages: they allow investing in foreign assets, diversifying the investment portfolio, and currency diversification.
  • They have conversion ratios: they determine how many certificates are equivalent to an asset listed in the market of origin.  
    • They are accessible investment alternatives: because of their conversion ratios, it is possible to invest with small amounts.
