BYMA joins United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE)

We are proud to announce that BOLSAS Y MERCADOS ARGENTINOS S.A., BYMA, signed in December 2017 a letter of commitment with the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchange Initiative. BYMA now joins nearly 70 stock exchanges around the world committed to promoting sustainability and transparency in capital markets.

Ernesto Allaria, president of BYMA: "We are delighted to join SSE today. BYMA is developing sustainability initiatives on several fronts. We are progressively working to strengthen internal Corporate Governance practices.

The goal is to professionalize and begin a gradual path toward international best practices and standards, which will bring about positive changes in our corporate culture. We have been analyzing other markets around the world in order to generate a new segment with higher standards of Corporate Governance, which companies will enter voluntarily.

BYMA is inspired by the Novo Mercado B3 Brazil and is evaluating other examples, with the intention of adapting them to the Argentine capital market and its regulatory environment, BYMA plans to be the first company to list its shares in this New Segment and we would like more companies to join us in this journey for the benefit of society as a whole.

We are also working with the Inter-American Development Bank to create a Sustainability Index to identify leading ESG companies. This drive towards sustainable development allows BYMA to be more aligned with the best practices of international stock exchanges and to promote the visibility of companies for access to new types of financing.

Both projects will be launched during 2018. BYMA will share its experiences and other positive developments in Argentina by working together with like-minded peers to contribute to building a sustainable future."
